The Penn State Hershey hiring process begins with a vacancy or the creation of a new position.

Job Openings and Applications – Our current job openings are listed online. We only accept applications via this website. An applicant should apply for every job posting they are interested in, even if there are several postings with the same job title. Job postings are updated regularly and are posted for a minimum of 3 days.

Screening and Interviewing – Human Resources reviews all applications and forwards those applicants who meet the job requirements and the preferred qualifications to the position's hiring manager. The hiring manager will determine who they believe are the best qualified / best fit and bring those applicants in for an interview and any applicable pre-employment assessments (i.e. computer testing, etc.)

Selection Process – Upon completion of the interview / assessment process, the hiring teams will then determine who the best qualified individual may be, based on the application / resume, the interview, any applicable assessments, and reference checks. An offer is extended shortly thereafter. The Interview and Selection process can take several weeks.

On-Boarding Requirements – Upon accepting a position, new hires will be required to complete a series of requirements prior to starting. This includes a drug test, background checks, education verification and employment verifications. For some positions, Child Abuse Clearance through the Department of Welfare and FBI fingerprinting may also be required.
